My congratulations for your 2003 first edition book, which was a pleasant reading for me. Has the new edition big difference from the first one? In other words, how has H.264 changed during these years?
Best regards,
Fabio Montoro.

Good question, Fabio. The aim of the book is to (i) explain H.264 in much more depth than the first book and (ii) cover aspects such as newer Profiles, applications and implementation.

My 2003 book was about MPEG-4 Part 2 and H.264/AVC. H.264 was covered in one large chapter. In the new book, the detailed operation of H.264 is covered in Chapters 4, 5, 6 and 7; Chapter 8 discusses transport, conformance and licensing; Chapter 9 is on performance and implementation, including parameter control and fast algorithms; Chapter 10 covers Scalable, Multiview and Reconfigurable video coding.
